Description:
The Backside Learning Center offers free educational programming to the men and women working in the barn area of Churchill Downs. Many of our students are Mexican & Guatemalan immigrants learning English, and we are starting bilingual conversation tables to offer them an opportunity to practice speaking in English.
We are looking for English-speaking volunteers who also speak or are learning to speak Spanish. Conversation tables will be partly in Spanish & partly in English and held on Thursday evenings. Volunteers will talk with our students, and conversation prompts will be provided.
