Description:
Do you believe in fairness for all families? EQUALITY MAINE NEEDS YOU! The legislature is currently considering a Marriage Equality Bill that would provide legal protections to same-sex couples in Maine.
We're looking for volunteers to help with: data entry, phone banking, volunteer recruitment, collecting postcards from supportive voters, and canvassing.
Data entry volunteers are welcome at our Portland Office:
Monday through Thursday 10 am to 9 pm
Friday 10 am to 5 pm
Sunday 12 pm to 5 pm
Founded in 1984, EqualityMaine is the political voice for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in Maine. EqualityMaine operates three separate corporate entities (501c3, 501c4 and PAC) that have the same overall mission: to build the grassroots political power of Maine’s LGBT community. Our work focuses on advancing equality legislation, defeating anti-LGBT referenda, and electing pro-LGBT candidates. As part of a broader social justice movement, we work in coalition with progressive organizations in Maine and around the country. After many years of strategic planning and organizing, we launched our marriage campaign in January 2009. EqualityMaine currently employs 17 campaign staff.
