Description:
Volunteer with Kayan
Kayan welcomes volunteers and interns all year round, from Israel and from all over the world. Volunteers and interns from abroad normally remain with us for one to three months.
Volunteers and interns contribute to all fields of our work, depending on their skills and interests. At the same time, our volunteers and interns have the chance to discover Kayan, participate in our workshops, seminars and conferences, and get to know Palestinian women in Israel.
Kayan does not provide remuneration for interns and volunteers, nor can we provide accommodation or reimburse travel expenses. Accommodation, travel and visa have to be arranged by the intern or volunteer. We will be happy to advise you on these matters.
We have vacant internship positions during the following periods:
To assist in administration, fundraising, translations, editing, online PR, or research:
November 2009 - open
To assist with translations between Hebrew, Arabic and English:
All year long, from home or from Kayan's offices.
To assist in legal advocacy and legal research:

To assist in group facilitation and mentoring:

To assist in project documentation:

Requirements:
To assist in administration, fundraising, translations, editing, online PR, or research:
-Fluency, written and spoken, in at least one of Kayan's working languages Arabic, Hebrew or English.
-Education in related field and/or relevant professional experience.
To assist with translations between Hebrew, Arabic and English:
-Native speaker of the language you are translating into.
-Fluency, written and spoken, in the language that you are translating from.
To assist in legal advocacy and legal research:
-Background in law (at least one year of law school, graduates preferred).
-Fluency, written and spoken, in at least one of Kayan's working languages Arabic, Hebrew or English.
-High proficiency in Arabic or Hebrew is highly desired.
To assist in group facilitation and mentoring:
-University degree in social work, psychology, education or a related field, and/or relevant professional experience.
-High proficiency in Arabic, preferably spoken Arabic. For job shadowing only, good knowledge of spoken or Standard Arabic is sufficient.
To assist in photography and video project documentation:
-Experience in production of short documentaries, including research, documentation of events and implementation of interviews.
-Experience in use of video and photographic cameras and editing of film material.
-High proficiency in Arabic, preferably spoken Arabic.
