Description:

The D.C. Language Access Coalition is an alliance of 30 community-based
organizations advocating for language access rights in the District of Columbia (DC). The Coalition's goal is to ensure that DC populations who are limited English proficient (LEP) or non-English proficient (NEP) have and can obtain equal access to essential government benefits and services including food stamps, Medicaid, health care, unemployment benefits, job training programs, public education, fire and emergency services, police and mental health services.

The Coalition seeks volunteers to lead language access "Know Your Rights" trainings in the D.C. community and/or to support its programmatic initiatives in Education and Health Care. You can learn more about the Coalition's work on its website: http://www.dclanguageaccess.org. Your commitment can be big or small - anything helps!

How to Apply:

Individuals interested in volunteering with the Coalition can fill out a volunteer form at our website: http://www.dclanguageaccess.org/cm/?q=node/16. Be sure to describe (a) the Coalition program area(s) they are interested in volunteering with, (b) the hours and number of weeks that they are available to volunteer with the Coalition, and (c) information on the technical skills you bring to your volunteer work (including languages spoken) - this may include a resume.
