Description:
Position: Intern, Kiva Fellows Program (2-3 slots available per class of fellows)
Location: San Francisco, CA – Downtown/Mission District
Job Type: Volunteer, 3-4 days per week
Term: 8 months
Preferred Start Dates: 26 ("KF8" Interns), May 18 ("KF9" Interns), September 21 ("KF10" Interns)
Job Description: The Kiva Fellows Program offers individuals a rare opportunity to travel abroad and witness firsthand the impact and realities of microfinance, by working directly with a host microfinance institution (MFI).
As an intern with the Kiva Fellows Program, you will serve as a critical part of the lifecycle of new fellows. You will be a self-starter who loves customer service, information systems and follow-through. We're looking for candidates to fill this position in Kiva's San Francisco headquarters. This is a part-time unpaid position.
Core Tasks:
* Month 1: Attend training along with the new class of Kiva Fellow Trainees (i.e. KF7-Kiva Fellows 7th class)
* Months 2 & 3: Learn KFP procedures; Coordinate screening and review processes for the next class of fellows (KF8); Documentation, administrative support tasks and customer service.
* Month 4: Support intake and training for the fellows class; Logistics, group facilitation
* Month 5: Train new interns on KFP procedures; Begin contact with fellows in the field
* Months 6 & 7: Coordinate contact and logistics with fellows in the field through the end of their placements
* Month 8: Participate in Training for the next class of fellows (KF9); Provide feedback and final assessment of the program and your Kiva internship in the form of a final report.
Ideal Candidate:
* Strong skills with web applications: wiki, gmail, salesforce
* Superior customer service orientation, both for internal and external audiences
* Great team player
* Superior organizational and problem-solving skills
* Someone with a "ready to help" attitude to make fellows feel at ease; friendly personality
* Evolved time management skills and a proven track record of managing projects
* BA or equivalent degree required
* Competency in a foreign language in Kiva's portfolio (esp. Spanish, French, Russian) desired
