Thank you for your interest in the Young Leaders Steering Committee!
The Young Leaders Steering Committee provides essential guidance to the Planned Parenthood Young Leaders. They, in concert with Planned Parenthood staff, are the key players in producing, organizing, and ensuring the success of the Planned Parenthood Young Leaders.

Requirements of joining the Steering Committee:
• Attend a Planned Parenthood of Georgia volunteer orientation
• Commit to a one year term
• Attend Steering Committee Meetings and Young Leaders events
• Annual Steering Committee pledge of at least $1
Open Volunteer Position:
2009-10 Steering Committee Chair
PURPOSE: To lead and coordinate the Planned Parenthood of Georgia Young Leaders in their mission of educating, energizing and inspiring, and attracting the 21-40 year old age group to support the mission of Planned Parenthood.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Young Leaders staff liaison and PPYL Group.
TIME COMMITMENT: The Chair coordinates and attends scheduled YL Steering Committee meetings and events. It is anticipated that this volunteer position will require approximately 6 hours per month. Term is one year, beginning July 1, 2009 and ending June 30, 2010.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Motivate and lead the PPYL Steering Committee
- Assist with defining and clarifying policies regarding PPYL with PPG staff
- Facilitate Steering Committee and Executive Team meetings
- Be responsible for the Team Leaders
- Set agendas, dates and times for the Steering Committee meetings
- Works with the Social Activities and Recruitment Coordinator(s) on the recruitment and selection process for the 2010-11 PPYL Steering Committee
- Share personal invitation list for events
- Recruits new volunteers to the Young Leaders
- Enjoy and assist with PPYL events, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS: Must support PPG’s mission and goals. Needs to be comfortable with public speaking and providing strong group leadership. Must be willing to take initiative and problem solve. Previous leadership experience necessary. Should be reliable and flexible. A sense of humor, while not required, is a great asset.
