The Young Leaders Steering Committee provides essential guidance to the Planned Parenthood Young Leaders. They, in concert with Planned Parenthood staff, are the key players in producing, organizing, and ensuring the success of the Planned Parenthood Young Leaders.

Requirements of joining the Steering Committee:
• Attend a Planned Parenthood of Georgia volunteer orientation
• Commit to a one year term
• Attend Steering Committee Meetings and Young Leaders events
• Annual Steering Committee pledge of at least $1

Open Volunteer Position:
2009-10 Steering Committee Event Team Leader

PURPOSE: To assume the lead role in the planning one cocktail party in November 2009 and with the signature PPGYL fundraising event in April 2010.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Young Leaders staff liaison and PPYL Group.

TIME COMMITMENT: It is anticipated that this volunteer position will require approximately 6 hours per month in the 3 months preceding both events. Term is one year, beginning July 1, 2009 and ending June 30, 2010.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the Events Team Leader may include but are not limited to:
- Provide event leadership on two PPYL events
- Attend PPYL Executive Team, Steering Committee and Events Team meetings
- Coordinate and delegate responsibilities such as invitation design, location, menu and entertainment to Event Team Members
- Prepare and distribute meeting agendas for Event Team meetings
- Work with PPG staff and the PPYL treasurer on all event financial matters (income and expenses for events will be handled directly by PPG)
- Procure and negotiate on PPYL’s behalf for event venue, services etc.
- Obtain approval on all major decisions from PPYL Chair and PPG staff
- Recruit and integrate host committee members into the planning of the events
- Share personal invitation list for events
- Enjoy and assist with PPYL events, as needed
