Our mission is to educate, equip, and mobilize youth to help solve the greatest challenges faced by communities across the globe. NGC is rapidly building a growing movement of young people across the country taking action to support solutions to the world’s greatest challenges.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
New Global Citizens is hiring 1 VISTA member to serve as a Development and Communication Specialist to start summer 2009. Under the guidance of the Director of Development, the VISTA will help execute several marketing and participant recruitment initiatives. The Dev/Comm Specialist role is fun, dynamic, and action-oriented. Responsibilities include:
? Building systems to improve communication from New Global Citizens to donors, ensuring that all donor groups (foundation, corporate, individual, alumni) have their own process for on-going and relevant communication updates. (e.g. Development Director wanting to communicate monthly to different target donors, we will need to build the capacity internally to do this)
? Building processes for interfacing with the program team to regularly extract student, partnership, and impact stories for dissemination to various target audiences and our website. (e.g. Getting an impact story ASAP out to a target audience or making relevant a recent news blurb and getting it out to alumni.)
? Executing the packaging of various donor communications.
? Supporting the conceptualization and execution of NGC’s Annual Community Luncheon.
? Compiling ongoing information for our quarterly newsletter and yearly annual report.
? Executing a recruitment strategy via the implementation of a social media platform (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) to actively grow the number of high school teams around the country to the NGC movement.
Additionally, New Global Citizens is seeking VISTA candidates with specialized interest, knowledge, and skill with respect to sustainable international development and grassroots social entrepreneurs.
NGC VISTA’s are passionate about the potential for youth to impact change and enjoy working with high school youth. VISTA’s must thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and possess organization skills, comfort working both independently and as part of a group, and proficiency working with computer programs and online tools. Furthermore, the role requires solid understanding of issues pertaining to poverty, advocacy, and international development. We are excited to see what candidates bring to the table and wish to utilize all talents for the purpose of enhancing the NGC program as well as the VISTA experience.
