The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the all-volunteer arm of the United States Coast Guard. With over 28,000 members, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary provides direct support to the the Coast Guard across all mission areas including Search and Rescue, Port Security, and Maritime environmental protection.
We are seeking individuals based in the South Florida area with a strong desire to become a part of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary's volunteer Public Affairs team. As a Coast Guard Auxiliary member, you may assist in a variety of areas including news reporting, media relations, photography, and video journalism. You will wear the Coast Guard uniform when working on missions supporting the efforts of Team Coast Guard to promote Recreational Boating Safety, Port Security, Law Enforcement, Environment Protection, and Disaster Response.
This position is a continual position as the discretion of the candidate. We will offer Public Affairs training to motivated individuals, and certainly welcome candidates with previous experience in journalism, media, and public relations to join our team.

Candidates must meet the following guidelines:
Men and women age 17 and older.
Must be a citizen of the United States of America or a U.S. Commonwealth.
Minimum of a basic understanding of the English language.
Ability to volunteer 8 or more hours per month.
Strong desire to save lives, and/or protect our nations ports, and/or preserve marine life and ecosystems.
Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
Must be able to pass a basic U.S. Government background check -- no major felony convictions.
Must pass a basic boating education course within 6 months of membership acceptance.
