Energetic family friendly volunteers are needed to help at community outreach events like family festivals, children’s health fairs, and back to school events.

• Volunteers should be someone who is comfortable communicating with people from different ethnic and economic backgrounds, as well as age groups to explain the importance of early education and care for young children.

• Volunteers will work with CC staff, other volunteers, and representatives from other community and government agencies, so a positive professional attitude is needed.

• Volunteers will distribute handouts and speak with families about how to choose childcare, early educational needs, as well as public policy issues regarding early education and care of young children.

• Volunteers may be asked to play games or demonstrate an activity that can be done at home with young children to stimulate development.

• Volunteers must be outgoing and able to speak clearly in English. Bilingual volunteers are needed who speak Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), German, Arabic, or any of the many languages spoken in Houston, Texas.

• Community events may be held in lower income areas, at religious facilities, school gyms, blocked off city streets, or parking lots, so you must be flexible with working conditions.

• Volunteers should be able to lift or move 15 pound boxes containing brochures, art supplies, handouts, and/or event supplies.

• Volunteers must be care about the education of young children.

• Must have reliable transportation.

• An outgoing personality is a plus, but you must possess compassion, tact and discretion!
