Description:

F.E.G.S Health and Human Services System is seeking a motivated individual to serve one year as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member. You will be expanding our innovative program, “Suited for Work,” which provides clothing to indigent men who are returning to the work force and need professional clothing for job interviews. You will also be working to expand our I-PREP Program, an interview preparation program where graduate students and business people volunteer to conduct mock interviews with F.E.G.S consumers. Through your year of service, you will help to build the organization’s capacity to alleviate poverty within our community by building the operations, staffing, and public awareness of these innovative programs.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Evaluate and modify Suited for Work operations as necessary, including inventory control, customer service, staffing, computer tracking systems
• Create volunteer management infrastructure to operate Suited for Work independent of VISTA member
• Coordinate program for community volunteers to work with Suited for Work clients
• Conduct research and outreach to clothing manufacturers and retail operations
• Recruit, interview, train, and oversee baby boomer volunteers to operate clothing program
• Coordinate and expand I-PREP Interview preparation program
• Match volunteers to appropriate programs throughout the agency

Qualifications:
• Minimum B.A. required
• Experience in social services and/or program development preferred
• Strong supervisory and management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized
• Strong computer skills

Salary and Benefits:
• Monthly stipend

• 10 personal days, 10 sick days
• Upon completion of one year of full-time service you will receive either an Education Award of $4,725 to be used for tuition or student loan repayment, OR an end-of-service stipend of $1,200.

AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. VISTA members serve in organizations throughout the U.S., creating and expanding programs that are focused on bringing individuals and communities out of poverty. AmeriCorps*VISTA members must be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal resident. You must be available to serve full-time for one year without outside commitments. Background check is required.
