ABOUT PROJECT GREEN VILLAGE

Project Green Village provides disadvantaged home and small business owners in each Congressional district with new green technology and energy efficiency upgrades/repairs for their existing homes and businesses. The Project also purchases and makes green improvements to homes in low-income areas and sells them at a low cost to needy families. Disadvantaged homeowners and small business owners receive energy audits and recommended upgrades at no charge, installed by certified professionals and in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local green building standards. HSFA also provides these families workshop training and free materials, such as brochures and flyers, on energy conservation and green living.

This project is in direct alignment with the requirements of the following sections of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009;

• Title IV – Energy and Water Development, Department of Energy, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

• Title XII – Transportation and Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Assisted Housing Stability and Energy and Green Retrofit Investments.

This project is also in direct alignment with the current Administration’s Agenda on Energy and the Environment.

By offering existing technology, e.g., tankless water heaters, solar panels, insulation, energy efficient light bulbs, Energy Star compliant devices, and making repairs that impact energy efficiency, such as damaged pipes, leaking roofs, and faulty wiring, we reduce energy consumption nationwide and improve the overall quality of our communities.
It is estimated that for every $1 spent on energy improvements, the property owner will save $4-$7 in energy costs over the life of the improvement. Based on the HSFA analysis, Project Green Village will provide approximately $17.28 to $30.24 million in total energy savings.

How to Apply:

HSFA embraces diversity and strongly encourages all qualified individuals, including people of varied ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation and physical abilities, to apply.

This is an unpaid volunteer position. This is a very serious position / opportunity. Although it is a volunteer position, we expect you to provide a high level of commitment and service (20+ hours weekly).
