Description:

Book Fruits, a literary and educational organization, seeks volunteer Workshop Facilitators.

Workshop Facilitators co-teach weekly writing workshops. And these writing workshops really work. They see new writers dancing with the joy of putting words to paper. They see unenthusiastic students alight with the excitement of seeing their writing matter.

The good work we do is possible because of the ingenuity and dedication of our Workshop Facilitators. Book Fruits’ Facilitators have found leading a workshop to be a rewarding, challenging way of giving back to the community.

Workshop Facilitators contribute approximately 10 hours weekly, two to three of which are spent in the workshops. The remainder is spent preparing for and reviewing each session. .A committment of September 7 to December 11 (with a break for Thanksgiving) is required. Training is provided. Location and schedule are flexible.

Our search is for Facilitators who are creative, responsive, and dedicated. Facilitators typically, although not always, have some experience either teaching or working with underserved populations.

The children in our writing workshop programs are fun, charming, funny children. Unfortunately, they are too often disconnected from language. Book Fruits aims to change that.

How to Apply:

To apply for the Workshop Facilitator volunteer position, please send a current résumé to recruit@bookfruits.org with the words "Teaching" in the subject line. Please call 202.338.1934 with inquiries. The selection process is open until August 28, but prompt applications are appreciated.
