Description:
The International Rescue Committee is a refugee service provider, which has been at work in San Diego for over 30 years assisting victims of violent conflict and war.
IRC's program Families Connect, is a home based tutor program that matches volunteers with newly arrived refugee families. At least once a week for two hours the volunteer tutors will visit their assigned families to practice English and help them adjust to life in San Diego. Families Connect tutors prove to be some of the most valuable relationships that refugees have because they are so welcoming and helpful. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of newly arrived refugees in San Diego!
