Description:
One Billion Voters! is a non-partisan campaign aimed at facilitating informed civic participation among India’s urban citizens. It works towards building a movement for active citizenship in urban India by providing citizens with tools, opportunities and information to play their roles easily and effectively.
Outreach Volunteers:
The Community Outreach function of OBV is looking at setting up a self-sustaining citizen engagement structure on ground, which will provide an opportunity for normal and motivated citizens, in their role as Booth Level Leaders (BLL's), to spearhead electoral and civic engagement activities in their own local neighbourhood area.
Volunteers would be a part of the city outreach team, and are required to:
Meet with specific community members (like Regional Welfare Association heads) at large to spread and evangelize the concept of BLL’s
Communicate with citizens and organization representatives (over the phone) to evoke general interest in the campaign
Prepare pitch material for the campaign, like flyers, presentations, videos and brief notes.
Regularly update the OBV team on their conversations and interactions with community members.
Conduct orientation sessions for potential BLLs
Constructively contribute to team meetings in which the pilot programme is structured, planned and strategized.
Expectations:
Knowledge of Kannada (desirable but not compulsory)
Excellent written and oral communication, strong commitment to the cause.
Full time availability will be preferred although Part Time volunteers are welcome too.
