Description:
Area Suraksha Mitra is a programme deploying volunteers (citizens) as security representative from local communities. This was set up to carry out training and demonstration of Civil Defense measures during peacetime. Volunteers will be trained in various constructive and nation building activities that will in ensure preparedness in contingencies.
Area Suraksha Mitras:
Will be trained in Headquarter service, warden service, neighborhood security service, communication service, casualty service, fire fighting service and more.
Should be willing to build community networks and establish working relationships with the local police.
Will maintain a household register for the given sector.
Will be required to report proactively on identified parameters, that is, strangers in the area, criminals, etc.
Should attend periodic mock drills in coordination with authorities.
Will be required to give general advice on civil defense to the residents and help is the further recruitment of volunteers for civil defense forces.
Shall assist the police and other responsible authorities during critical incidents like air-raids, flood, fire, earthquake, etc.
Expectations:
Volunteers are required to be registered voters, without any criminal records and a high sense of integrity and a spirit of volunteerism.
Time commitment of 4-6 hours and 5 days a week.
