The Tutor/Mentor Connection is a non-profit organization committed to connecting tutoring and mentoring programs throughout the Chicago area and beyond. We hope that by working together and sharing ideas and resources we can help more inner-city children.
We are looking for volunteers to help us communicate our mission and ideas effectively via the web. The Tutor/Mentor Institute website (
http://www.tutormentorexchange.net includes a library of pdf essays, that share concepts and ideas that the T/MC supports and would like to communicate to others. Most of these are presented as pdf or PowerPoint presentations. Some have been converted to flash animation by interns working with us. We invite volunteers to help us communicate all of these ideas visually using current web 2.0 social networking and collaboration technologies, such as mind mapping, concept mapping, animation, Autocad, etc., so that more people can access and understand them.
We need volunteers to:
- Work to understand a particular presentation or idea on the site.
- Use that understanding to communicate complex ideas in easy to understand visual presentations via web technologies like Flash, Java, concept mapping, GIS, animation, Autocad, etc., and in a way that will make it accessible to more people.
