Help your fellow community members who speak Chinese by becoming a volunteer Chinese translator/interpreter! The American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana has a Multicultural Information eXchange (MIX) program that provides free language translation and interpretation services to the local community.

How to Apply:

Key Requirements:

• Translate a variety of personal documents, including birth certificates, licenses, diplomas, and ID cards, for clients
• Interpret applications, phone calls, and general appointment scheduling for clients at the Multicultural Information eXchange office.
• Assist on-site with translation and interpretation services during times of local disaster.

Location: Translation of personal documents may be done from home, but interpretation services are provided in the Multicultural Information eXchange office:

1212 E. California Rd.
Fort Wayne, IN 46825

Dates Needed: Immediately. Flexible schedule.

Length of commitment: Ongoing as your schedule allows.

You will be providing a necessary and important service to Chinese speakers in your community! The Multicultural Information eXchange program has a specific need for more Chinese translators and interpreters, so your time is very valuable to both the program and your local community members!

Skills:

• Ability to speak, read, and/or write Chinese and English fluently
• Ability to respect and uphold the confidentiality of all documents and conversations that are translated or interpreted
• Willingness to help your fellow community members
