This Winter, head for the mountains!
For 3 weeks, you’ll volunteer with the families who live and receive services at La Casa de Acogida 'Kausakusun", a temporary shelter for women survivors of domestic violence and their children. Whether you choose to work directly with the adults, youth, or staff of the organization, your support will be much appreciated.
On the weekends, you’ll be able to take advantage of all that the Cusco area has to offer. You can take a trek in to one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu, Or, perhaps you’ll choose to explore the Sacred Valley, shoot the river rapids by raft, or take a horse or bike for a spin.

LOCATION: San Sebastian, a town of 85,000 people, located just outside of Cusco in the Andes Mountains.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS AVAILABLE:
· Children’s Therapeutic Activity Leaders (sports, drawing/painting, creative writing, patio games, English, kids’ cooking, music, and others)
· Adult Education (basic computer skills, Spanish literacy, budgeting, English)

PROGRAM COST:
- Three week program: $1,495
- Need-Based Scholarships currently available. (The NBS application deadline for this program is Friday October 30, 2009)
COST INCLUDES:
· Airport pick-up and drop-off by Peru 109 Directors
· Round trip flight Lima-Cusco (valued at $300 USD)
· All lodging (including hotel stay in Lima and host family stay in San Sebastian)
· Three meals a day, seven days a week for the duration of your stay
· Three hours a week of Spanish classes with local instructor (max. 2 students per group)
· Bilingual program directors on site and in your neighborhood, on call 24 hours a day
· Additional evening and weekend activities such as salsa lessons, traditional cooking classes, and local hikes.
