Description:

Peace Brigades International (PBI) is a human rights organisation currently recruiting new volunteers for our field teams in Colombia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Mexico and Nepal.

PBI is holding a residential Orientation Weekend for potential volunteers from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd November 2009, at a Buckinghamshire venue. The Orientation Weekend is the first step in the preparation and training of potential PBI volunteers and provides an opportunity for those interested to explore the possibility of joining a volunteer team. The weekend will serve as a good general introduction to PBI, its philosophy, aims and work. It is designed as an informative and enjoyable weekend for anyone wanting to learn more about the work of PBI, both in Britain and on the teams. You will also explore issues such as non-violence, consensus decision-making and conflict resolution through discussions, role-plays, team exercises, workshops and games.

PBI volunteers accompany human rights defenders who experience threats and repression because of their work. PBI is an independent organisation not affiliated to any religious or political institutions. For more information, please visit www.peacebrigades.org.uk
