Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is currently seeking adults to volunteer as our High School Speakers.

Speakers are volunteers trained and certified by PPLA to present age-appropriate responsible sex education to students throughout the Los Angeles area. The Speakers are a diverse group of dedicated adult women and men who believe in educating adolescents about reproductive health care to help prevent unintended pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted infections.

We present a responsible sex education program consisting of six one-hour interactive presentations on topics including Healthy Relationships, Sexuality, Healthy Bodies, Teen Pregnancy, Sexually Transmitted Infections and Birth Control.  PPLA Speaker presentations are delivered in a straightforward manner, stressing that abstinence is the most effective method of preventing unintended pregnancy and the transmission of STIs.  PPLA speakers also teach responsible decision-making through role-playing, activities and student involvement.  We promote adolescent health that will lead to healthy adulthood.

To be a Speaker, a person must have daytime availability, reliable transportation, and must successfully complete 40 hours of instructional training and an evaluation process.  Additionally, Speakers must enjoy working with teens and be able to present the curriculum in a teen-friendly manner. Finally, Speakers must commit to at least one year of service and teaching a minimum of 4 classes per month. Our training dates for the fall semester are October 16^th & 17^th and October 23^rd & 24^th: 9am-5pm. All four dates are mandatory.
