Description:

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, although current undergraduates with strong backgrounds in research or writing are also encouraged to apply
• Enthusiasm for non-profit work; must be willing to think creatively about a wide variety of social issues and be comfortable working with very diverse groups of people
• Demonstrated research and writing ability (2-3 page writing sample required)
• Background in art (visual, performance, music) preferred, although by no means necessary

We need someone with demonstrated writing and research abilities to be able to make an active contribution to our daily operations and long-term goals. Looking for interns interested in gaining experience in non profit advocacy, PR, marketing, or applying research skills gained in a university/liberal arts curriculum. As an advocacy intern for CCT, you’ll be working in a small, young, fast-paced office and will be both gaining concrete work experience as well as immersing yourself in the sights, sounds, and smells of one of Southeast Asia’s oldest and most vibrant cities. You will be living and working right in central Chiang Mai, and will have the opportunity to work directly in a wide range of communities, including Shan migrants, single mothers, and disabled children.

We have a flexible schedule and are open to offering internships for any timeframe—just let us know what best suits you!

Responsibilities include:

• Writing articles and promotional materials for newsletters, local newspapers, and online publications
• Participating in and helping create lesson plans for a number of art workshops in which you’ll be working hands on with kids, migrant workers, sex workers, and other disaffected communities within Chiang Mai
• Managing and updating a blog documenting your workshop experiences
• Researching and writing grants to help us expand our operations (an opportunity to make a concrete contribution to a growing organization)
