Beacon of Hope Uganda is a movement dedicated to supporting quality education in targeted under-resourced communities, with programs in Uganda. We are committed to helping individuals fulfill their potential and play meaningful roles in shaping our world.
Our network of societies provides opportunities to volunteer (e.g. mentoring) in the local community, fundraise for the schools, orphanages and raise awareness about development issues. If you are interested in volunteering or working in this sector, we have placements in different fields to suit your budget and interests.

Volunteer program
The Program provides an opportunity to volunteer in a community-based school or educational project in Uganda every month. Since 2007, 57 volunteers have taken part in the Volunteer Program working with our projects for almost six months, while learning about different cultures. It offers the possibility to develop personal and professional skills, to work in a team, and to learn about the challenges and opportunities of development in our interconnected world.

We manage/oversee the running of a number of projects originally set up by locals, but looking for outside help in the form of advise, financial support, long term support and hands on help. Significant donations and enthusiastic volunteers have allowed us to achieve much in the short time we've been here. We also have information on other projects in Uganda that we are not directly involved with, and so can refer people to these, especially if people have special interests or skills.

So if you are interested in volunteering your skills as a teacher in 2010, please you are welcome to Uganda. Opportunities are available at the following schools:

Hope Education Center- Run by Beacon of Hope Uganda and attended by orphans and disadvantaged children supported by BoHU Volunteers and well-wishers

Nakaye Primary School- supported by Gomba Youth Development Association

Gayaza Vocational & Secondary School in Rakia western Uganda- Run by Shepherd in Uganda.

Community Based Initiative for Vulnerable and Orphaned Children- Bushenyi- attended by totally orphaned children who do not have anywhere to stay.
