Description:
If you volunteer as a "foster parent," you take home a "special needs" shelter pet, socialize him or her in a home and outdoor environment, and let people know that the pet is available for adoption. Foster homes are often used when pregnant or nursing pets arrive at the shelter. Mother and babies are kept comfortably in a foster home until babies are ready for adoption at 8 weeks of age.
