My Name is Debra A Hayes

I'm a PhD candidate and a CMD (Chinese Medicine Doctor) Degree candidtate via China's TCM Academy. My other degrees are in Anthropology, International Studies, East Asian Studies and Humanities.

My goal is the integration of healers according to the 1978 WHO Alma Ata (Health For One) Initiative. Through it, of course, we not only heal bodies, minds and spirits, but also provide sustainable solutions and interventions to the pandemic and epidemic crises. Accordingly, economies are rearranged and our relationship with the land and each other is restored.

I have done work with the WHO Intellectual Property Rights, Traditional Medicine and Stop-TB branch, especially drug resistant forms. With the help of my "Algerian brother" in Algeria, we are working toward opening a Chinese medicine clinic to address disease, especially chronic and difficult ones.

Currently, I am laying down the groundwork for my international foundation, dedicated to gathering, disseminating, teaching and "translating" the medicinal techniques and formulations while protecting the rights of the indigenous peoples from which they proceed. It's all about collective knowledge and the application of it to promote true healing. Namaste

Hello,

My name is Putnam and I work for Idealist as Editor of our Nonprofit FAQ (http://www.idealist.org). I also teach in the M.P.A. program at Seattle University ( http://www.idealist.org/en/org/162594-263 "Fundamentals of Nonprofit Organizations") every Fall quarter and am active with several nonprofit organizations in the Seattle area. It's a difficult task to translate the work of scholarly researchers with the daily challenges of working for a nonprofit organization. I'm glad to see this group on Idealist working to span that frontier. My original academic concentration was in sociology; after university I worked for the federal government's volunteer programs, then for the state of Washington, and then for a nonprofit association whose members are nonprofits in the Seattle area (http://www.idealist.org/en/org/103327-49). I'm active with the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (http://www.idealist.org/en/org/14657-49) and enjoy exploring the links between public policy, organizational behavior, and public benefit work of all sorts.

Hello everyone,

My name is Carolyn and I am working on my Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy. My interests are numerous; however, they all revolve around improving the lives of people, mainly children and families. My focus of research right now is on prevention and treatment of emotional abuse, and increasing public awareness. I'm in independent practice part time having left community mental health earlier this year. That's another story in itself.

Everyone's experience on the intro page here is fascinating. I'm glad to have found this group.
