Jobs for the Environment?
Fecha: Octubre 30, 21:22
Hi,

I would like to know if anyone works for an organization dealing with environmental issues or knows someone who does. I am looking to break into this field. I have nonprofit and volunteer experience, and an English and journalism background. Any info is helpful. Thank you! Hopefully one of these days I can make it to one of the meetings!

Hi Dan,

I would check out the Orion Grassroots Network. If you go to http://www.orionsociety.org/pages/ogn/ics.cfm, you'll see that jobs and internships are posted by state (or in our case, District) on the right side of the page. Also, if you're not subscribed to the OneWorld DC and YNPN-DC email lists, I would get on those, because in addition to job postings there tend to be tons of networking opportunities that could lead to a job.

You can also message me on Idealist and I can try to introduce you to a couple of people I know personally.
Good luck!
Julia

Hey Dan,

I work for the Land Trust Alliance here in town--we're involved with private land conservation, which though not environmental in the conventional sense, is definitely strongly related. I think all of our current job openings are probably already listed on Idealist, but if they're not: http://lta.org/resources/alliancejobs.htm Only the public policy position is in our DC office though.

Let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything I can do to help.

-Katie
