TEACHING ENGLISH

Teaching English is an educational program designed to help children of poor families in the country obtain their principal right to an education, which would otherwise be difficult to obtain.


PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The centres are located in very poor neighborhoods in Quito with scarce economic resources. This program gives a primary education to 178 children between 3 and 12 years of age. Right now the schools have only 5 teachers for all the grades, and so it is important that we find volunteers that can help in the educational area.

VOLUNTEER WORK ACTIVITIES

The principal volunteer work is to teach English.

DURATION OF VOLUNTEER STAY

Volunteers must work in this project a minimum of 2 months, 8:00 AM to 13:00PM Monday to Friday.

FREE TIME

All the volunteers have free time after their volunteer work hours during the week and during the weekends.

REQUIREMENTS

All the volunteers need to have some knowledge of the Spanish language before starting their volunteer work.

If the volunteer is not at this level, Ecuador Volunteer can help him/her to find the best program to improve their Spanish skills before starting the project.

ACCOMMODATION

Volunteer have the choice of staying with a host family or staying in a hostel. The living cost with families covers the accommodation and meals during his/her volunteer work time. If the volunteer decides to live in a hostel the cost covers only the accommodation. The cost of the lunch within the project is 0,60 cts. The cost of living does not include Travel insurance - Transportation - Personal expenses - Administrative Costs of Ecuador Volunteer.

Inscription Fee: $200 USD
Host Family (per month): $450 USD
Hostel (per month): $300-$450 USD
