How to Be An Active Member of the Youth Development Exchange
DATE: September 8, 16:29
There seem to be quite a few people who signed up for the Youth Development Exchange. If you are interested in playing a more active role, you should know that we publish a youth affairs blog called The Exchange. Our first edition will be published on October 19 and the editors are still looking for writers, cartoonists and other freelance contributors. It's an entirely volunteer run operation; everyone offers their skills pro bono, working for the greater good of the community.

If you are interested, check out any of our volunteer listings on Idealist or simply email me at chiquitaw@gmail.com

Peace y'all!

Hey everyone:

We are looking for volunteers to help with some current and upcoming projects:

* The Exchange, our professional blog that examines global issues from the youth perspective, is updated every Tuesday with new articles from journalists and activists just like you! If you want to contribute to the Exchange, please contact our managing editor, Chloe Mister, at cdmist@gmail.com. As always, check out the site at www.ydeusa.org.

*The membership drive, which aims to recruit 200 members by June 2008. It will involve some face-to-face meetings and promotion on online social networks like MySpace and Facebook. For more info on this initiaitive, please contact the YDE Director, Chiquita S. Williams, at chiquitawilliams2007@yahoo.com.

*The State of the City Conference, a groundbreaking event to take place in 2009 or 2010. Through old-fashioned organizing and funky technology, we will enable masses of youth to set a legislative platform they will take to the mayor and the city council. For more info, contact Chiquita at chiquitawilliams2007@yahoo.com.

*The Website for Youth Empowerment, an informational site about all things youth development and empowerment. If you are a great web designer who can lend his/her expertise to this volunteer project, I want to hear from you asap! Contact Chiquita at chiquitawilliams2007@yahoo.com.

High school and college age volunteers are super-welcome!

Do you have an idea to make the Youth Development Exchange great! Let us know!

Peace y'a'll!

Hey everyone:

Happy Holidays!

I just wanted to send out another call for volunteers to support our on-going projects. We'd love to begin working with you at the start of the New Year!

These are the available positions:

Steering Committee Members: Manage oversight of the Youth Development Exchange International's activities including strategic growth and planning. We are looking for at least five volunteers who can meet once monthly and work independently to help achieve organizational goals.

Breaking News Editors, The Exchange: Edit, format and fact check articles (300-400 words) for our weekly blog that examines global issues from the youth perspective. We are looking for two volunteers to fill these roles so each editor is only responsible for content twice per month.

Breaking News Writers, The Exchange: Write 300-400 word articles related to current events for our weekly blog. We are looking for three to four writers to fill these roles so each writer is responsible for one short article per month.

Leading Today Website Design Team: Coordinate the production of the Leading Today website, which will provide resources and information to youth leaders looking to build their skills and advance their efforts to affect social change. This is a three-month project (January-March 2008) and we are looking for at least five volunteers to support the process. Volunteers must have passion for youth empowerment. Ideally, volunteers will be skilled in one of the following areas: web design, graphic design, online content management, online communities (esp. youth communities), writing and copy editing. If you lack experience but have good ideas and enthusiasm, you should still apply.

Managing Editors, Leading Today Anthology: Review and make minors edits to the Leading Today Online Anthology. Powered by Wikidot, we hope to build the largest collection of articles, essays and profiles about young leaders on the internet. Since Leading Today is a public site that enables users to upload and publish their own content, the managing editors will simply check to see if users have put up relevant, appropriate content that is in compliance with our 750-word limit.

If you are interested in any of these roles, please send an email of interest, along with one sample of your work to:
