Educational Assistants make the past come alive for special programs and school tours. These very important volunteers learn various historical processes (butter churning, spinning, etc) as well as interpretive skills so that they may in turn share these skills with the public and our many educational groups. On-going training is provided and at least a one year commitment is requested.

The Mission Houses Museum connects the story of the American Protestant missionaries and their descendants to the history and culture of hHawai`i, in order to give present generations of residents and visitors a deeper understanding of, and appreciation for, Hawai`i's rich and complex history. (museum mission statement, adopted March 22, 2006)
