Is there information about foundations on the Web?

Summary:

More and more foundations are making information about their activities, including grants, available online.

Answer:

The Council on Foundations [ http://www.cof.org ] and the Foundation Center [ http://foundationcenter.org ] offer lists of foundations at their websites. The Foundation Center has an online subscription service for their detailed reports on foundation grants that costs about $20 per month.

Fundsnet Online Services offers an Alphabetical Listing of Foundations (& Other Grantmakers) at http://fundsnetservices.com/found-aa.htm This listing
differs from better known sites in that it includes many grantmaking entities which are not private, corporate, or community foundations.

The Philadelphia Business Journal explored the new website of the Pew Charitable Trusts on September 7, 1998, and with some background on how foundations see the WWW as a part of their work. See http://www.amcity.com/philadelphia/stories/090798/story8.html
The Pew Charitable Trusts website is at
