My organization is eligible. How do I register? I want to join as an Affinity Group Is my group eligible? Affinity Groups are created by people who want to share ideas and resources, get involved in local or global communities, and help create opportunities for others to be involved. The primary purpose of Affinity Groups is to allow Idealist members to create a community around an issue or common interest, and each Affinity Group has a forum where group members can meet and interact. Please note that Affinity Groups cannot be used to promote a business or commercial enterprise. My Affinity Group is eligible. How do I register? How do I register as an organization or Affinity Group? Registration is free to all organizations and Affinity Groups and must be completed by a permanent staff member of the organization. To register an Organization or Group, you must first sign up for an Individual account and then submit a profile for your organization to be reviewed by our staff. To begin, go to http://www.idealist.org and click on the "Add your organization" link found in the upper right-hand corner of the homepage, above the blue menu bar. You will be led through the process of creating or logging in to your individual account and registering your group. Please keep in mind that the registration form requires only contact information and your group's mission statement. When possible, please provide an email address associated to your group. Please do not provide information about specific programs, events, or position opportunities; such information may be added later. What happens after I register as an Organization? What happens after I register as an Organization? Our staff will then review your application and in 24-48 hours we will email you, possibly requesting more information. If you do not hear from us within two business days, please make sure to check your spam/junk/bulk folder and inquire with your email service provider whether any '@idealist.org' messages are being filtered. Approval notifications are sent via an automated system and sometimes get misclassified in the "unsolicited" category. If two business days have passed, and you are unable to find a message from us, contact us for further assistance. Once your group has been approved, you can access your group's account by logging in to your Individual account, clicking on the "Groups and Listings" tab of your Control Panel, and then clicking on the “Edit & Post” link. You will be taken to the Entry & Update Menu where you will be able to manage your group's listings, update your group's profile, administer account privileges, and more.
