Why does my company have to maintain a profile? Can't I just provide a link to our website?

We ask that companies fill out the registration form (profile) as completely as possible even if this information may be included on your own website. Why? Because Idealist's users find consultants, vendors, and freelancers through the Idealist search engine which searches for companies by keyword, location, area of expertise, and so on. If your profile does not contain this information explicitly, your record will not turn up in Idealist searches.
