7. Whenever a group of people get together to help introduce new ideas, and maybe reaffirm already set beliefs, it can set a powerful chain reaction of positivity. Everything is not perfect, but you have to start somewhere.

8. YES WE CAN!! Though Idealist embodies my personal mission statement in life and I feel that if I just keep doin' all the things I do, I am already doing this without being formally involved.

9. I think the Idealist organization shows great initiative. Wanting to help local and global environmental and living conditions can be both important and at times overwhelming. Idealist helps navigate through lists of existing organizations and encourages the development of new ones. I hope it helps me communicate with people and organizations that work towards accomplishing goals and objectives that I share, in order to change abstract dreams to practical realities.

11. Hate to sound skeptical, but it seems that an awful lot of the people involved in worthy causes are involved more to benefit themselves than the cause. Too little transparency and accountability often allows organizations to be ineffective, corrupt or wasteful.

14. Since I have lived abroad, in Beijing, China for a year I really wish to shorten the gap between the youth of China and the United States. I believe that with a better understanding of other people's cultures one can not only learn a lot about themselves, but also learn how to respect and cooperate with people of all backgrounds.

17. It's a beautiful idea to connect people with overlapping ideals. This gives all of us an opportunity to unite in ways that would not be possible and really make a big impact. The more involved I become in my community, the more inspired I become by the goals and dedication of individuals I encounter. The initiative will help more people to unite and create positive change.
