Description:

Volunteer teaching assistants are needed to teach any of the following subjects and supplement the teaching workforce at the school. Subjects available to teaching volunteers include: English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Agricultural Science, Environmental Studies, Physical Education and French. You have the option to teach any one or more of these subjects depending on your abilities. In addition, a syllabus will be available to guide you. Your responsibilities will include:

1. to work side by side with classroom and subject teachers
2. to study and teach students by the syllabus
3. design lesson notes for a subject you might teach without syllabus
4. make learning fun and easier for students
5. etc


Eligibility for above volunteer opportunity:
Preferred gender: any
Age: 18 years and above
Educational background: high school, college or university
Work experience: at least a years experience in a related area above


Skills needed for placement
First and foremost, volunteers must show a strong desire to work with children and be proactive. They should realize that in developing countries such as Ghana, business does not go on as always expected. Volunteers will need to be tolerant and flexible in order to achieve their goals. A bit of follow-up from time to time will do the trick. Taking initiatives will help you overcome hurdles and face challenges more confidently.
