Detailed Project Outline #2: Becoming a Campus that Votes
Overview of the project
Members of the IOC community will take the lead on civic engagement initiatives on campus during election season by facilitating connections between campus groups, offices, and departments all working towards increasing student voter turnout. Participants will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of traditional voter registration drives and GOTV initiatives by harnessing the collective power of on-campus resources and inter-campus collaborations.
Goals of the project
Members of the IOC community will:
Increase student voter turnout on college campuses
Build lasting connections between campus groups, offices, and departments
Build strong inter-campus partnerships
Help to create a culture of collaboration on campus regarding civic engagement
Guide to completing the project (suggested activities)
Complete a Campus GOTV Asset Map
Create a diverse GOTV Committee with representatives from all interested student groups, academic departments, and offices
Create a GOTV Action Plan including both intra- and inter-campus projects
Run voter registration drives; produce voter education materials, events and trainings; get students to the polls on election day
