A few tips
Don't forget to use your school as a resource: school newsletters are a great place to promote your project and some schools offer financial assistance to students who want to volunteer abroad. Talk to your guidance counselor to find out how your school can help.
If you are under 18 years old make sure you have the support of an adult when planning fundraising events. Businesses may be reluctant to involve their company in fundraisers without adult supervision. Also, be aware of permits you might need when using a public space.
Research your host organization. Certain organizations, like Landmark Volunteers, give out a small amount of financial aid to applicants in need.
Spread the word! Publicize your events and ask everyone you can think of for support. If people don't know your plans, they can't help.
Be creative. You can earn money doing lots of different things. Have a bake sale or raffle your old bike. The key is to use your imagination.
