The next class of FundClass, the free experimental "online fundraising school", is about to begin. The topic is Major Donors, and will be facilitated by Mary Thom Adams, who will be posting an introductory message shortly.

Mary Thom started her career at age 11 when she went door-to-door raising money for the starving children in Biafra, but it's only during the past 12 years that she's been paid for her work. She's currently Development Coordinator at Highlander Research and Education Center in Tennessee, where working with Major Donors is a major part of her job. Two quick reminders:

While we're fortunate to have Mary Thom facilitating the discussion, she is not the only person on this List with experience in this field. The point of the FundClass List is to provide an arena in which veteran fundraisers can share their knowledge with those new to the field. So, please feel free to jump in when you have something to share, or a question to ask. That means both veterans and newcomers.

And, reminder #2: this List is unusual in that we try to stay on one topic for a period of time. If the discussion raises a question in your mind that is way off topic, please hold it until after the topic is finished. We will have a "recess" period after this topic at which time it will be very appropriate to bring up any question you wish.
