Hispanic Federation (HF) is the nation's premier Latino nonprofit membership organization. Who We Seek 

Hispanic Federation is seeking Canvassers to complete voter registration and support community outreach via door knocking, community events, phone banking, and text messaging services. The Community Outreach Canvasser will work closely with the Hispanic Federation Team to create a meaningful impact in community outreach to ensure specific, underserved communities participate fully in their civic duty, specifically around voter registration and GOtV (Get Out the Vote) campaigns.

The successful candidate is comfortable speaking to community members in English and Spanish, understands the importance of community engagement in the civic process, and can adhere to protocols and procedures as directed. The canvassers will report to the Director of Community Outreach and Engagement.

 

Position Location: Central Florida  

Salary: $22/hr. up to 28 hours per week.  

Reports to: Director of Community Outreach and Engagement  

Temporary position May 6, 2024 – November 6th 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in on-site programming, engaging with community members and educating them about topics of interest to their voter engagement, health, and local / community issues.
  • Assist individuals in completing voter registration forms in English and Spanish, ensuring forms are completed correctly.
  • Support voter registration work in key locations as part of outreach efforts.
  • Use different online applications and tools to complete virtual phone banking and texting properly.
  • Attend meetings and trainings regarding voter registration work and best practices.
  • Communicate with HF’s civic engagement team to discuss all progress and problems in carrying out duties.
  • Inspect all voter registration forms before delivering QC.
  • Carry out any other duties needed to support Hispanic Federation’s civic engagement work.
  • Adhere to all nonpartisan guidelines, abiding by IRC 501(c)(3) regulations; and federal, state, and local laws and all local election regulations while executing operations under this Agreement. 

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with community outreach and engaging Florida’s diverse population around voter registration.
  • Have access to reliable, consistent internet and have access to technology to properly engage in required technology and applications.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and as required during community and engagement events.
  • Strong understanding of Latino and social justice issues.
  • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
  • Bilingual is a strong asset (Spanish and English).
  • Must be available to work weekends and evenings.
  • Can adhere to HF’s safety protocols and procedures.
