Green Destination Orlando

GDO is a non-profit organization working to bring together all the different groups (non-profit, government, and businesses) together focused on making the hospitality industry (including hotels, restaurants, shopping, theme parks & transportation compa nies) in Central Florida unified under the singular purpose of becoming the most sustainable tourism and convention destination in North America.

It is our mission to be a catalyst for the transformation of the Central Florida Hospitality Industry through the way buildings & properties are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life & visitor experience. To accomplish this mission we created an entirely new technical program that would represent both the existing sustainability programs, but also push Central Florida’s hospitality industry to a more rigorous level of environmental practices. We determined what we needed was a total sustainability EXPERIENCE- from the moment a visitor steps off the plane in Orlando, to the transportation to their hotel, from their stay at local lodging, to their daily activities (be it a conference or family vacation), and all the way back to the airport- a complete loop that never breaks- a sustainability EXPERIENCE.

Today, Green Destination Orlando is being recognized around the country for its vision and practical application. Central Florida is cementing its position as a sustainability pioneer with a program that will change the way travelers, businesses, and industries look at what hospitality means moving forward. We are redefining the EXPERIENCE.
