The Parents Television Council is a volunteer organization with 1.3 million members. The purpose of the organization is to encourage responsibility in entertainment. Extensive research has documented the harmful effects of sex, violence, and profanity in television and other media. The Chicago Chapter supports the national organization by finding and contacting local sponsors of harmful television programs, and by seeking opportunities to reach out to potential members.
