What books, magazines, periodicals, websites or other materials should people read to learn more about this field?
High Country News, www.idealist.org, local/national organizations in your area of interest. Contact local nonprofits to learn about the field; volunteer with a local organization.

What questions would you ask of someone who wants to do this work?
What do you hope to achieve by working in the nonprofit sector? Where are your strengths and weaknesses and how can these attributes contribute to making the world a better place?

In what kinds of jobs can recent college graduates have the most impact in your field?
Organizing, communication/media, building a larger base of support / giving more depth to the movement.

What are the major trends and/or key issues in your field?
Not sure of the question. Collaboration, working in coalition

What forms of support and/or advice have you found most valuable (mentoring, trainings, professional development, attending conferences, etc.)?
Personal mentoring, working in collaboration with others on projects, learning as I go, attending Western States Center's Community Strategic Training Initiative (CSTI).

What is a common or tough interview question a candidate in your field should be prepared to answer?
Not sure

What other advice would you give people who want to do this work?
The work is rewarding, frustrating and isn't always easy...have fun, learn a lot and remember you can make a difference! When you are burned out, take some time off...you are not doing a service to yourself or your organization when you are fried!
