Career Path
What was your first job after college and how did you get it?
I was a research assistant at MCP Hahnemann Medical School in the Women's Health Education Program. I got it through a listing in the college career office.

How did you get your current job?
I began working here as a consultant one or two hours a week and gradually became more involved. I loved the work and a full-time position opened up, so I applied for it.

What experiences and/or course work in college best prepared you for this job or influenced your decision to do this work?
Volunteering after college-- teaching in a GED program in North Philadelphia. Working directly with people and making a direct impact was so powerful, I knew it was what I wanted to do.

Any regrets? What experiences and/or course work might have better prepared you for this work?
None. If you follow your heart and inner feeling, then everything, even the bad experiences, will teach you something.

Have you attended graduate school or are you considering graduate school? What degree do you have/would you want and why? Are there any limitations to advancement in your field if you do not have a certain graduate degree?
I have not gone to grad school yet because I have not figured out exactly what I want to do "when I grow up." So far I have not been at all limited in anything I've wanted to do. I would consider an MPH or Master's in Sociology if I were to go back to school. Nothing is a better teacher than practical experience.
