What questions would you ask of someone who wants to do this work?
What is your passion, and why do you want to work in the public sector? What is your vision for yourself and the world over the next twenty years? How important is change, and how can you become an agent of change?

What are the major trends and/or key issues in your field?
affordable housing, gentrification, immigration, architecture, sanitation and public waste/waste disposal, poverty, worker's rights

What forms of support and/or advice have you found most valuable (mentoring, trainings, professional development, attending conferences, etc.)?

My leadership skills are improving, my listening is becoming more 'in tune,' and the ability to assess situations quickly and act on new information in a decisive manner is also something I am learning.

What is a common or tough interview question a candidate in your field should be prepared to answer?
How have recent policy decisions (over the last five years) affected the 'fiscal crisis' NYC is currently experiencing?

What other advice would you give people who want to do this work?
