A Day in the Life
What are three things you love and three things you find challenging or frustrating about your work?
Love:
1.  connection to community/issues
2.  great colleagues
3.  flexible and creative work environment

Challenging or frustrating:
1.  lousy pay
2.  community not as productive as it should be
3.  lack of funding

What is the most important task on your desk right now?
finding funding to expand the fight against ineffective, expensive drug sentencing laws that diproportionately impact low-income black and latin families in New York

What drives you to do this work? What makes you want to get out of bed every morning?
It is how I want to use my time and my law degree. I want to do work that I find important and impactful.

How often do you "dress up" for work? Describe the culture of your organization.
I wear a suit every day, by choice. Others in my organization dress casually (which is fine), but to me it is important to send a message to the high-end lawyers and business people I interact with that my work is as serious as a merger.

In a typical month, about what percentage of your time is spent on the following activities?
Talking on the phone 10%
Dealing with email 5%
Meetings with individuals 10%
Meetings with groups/committees 25%
Traveling 20%
Writing 10%
Reading 10%
Researching 10%

(Note: respondents could allow their answers to add up to be more than 100%)

What do you do when you are feeling burned out at work?
Take vacation — I use all my vacation every year.
