A Day in the Life
What are three things you love and three things you find challenging or frustrating about your work?
Love:
1.  Working with Congress and colleague organizations
2.  Lots of oppertunities to see speakers, events
3.  Job varies depending on day and time of year

Challenging or frustrating:
1.  Working on issues that rarely "win"
2.  Having to work around Congress' schedule
3.  Internal office politics

What is the most important task on your desk right now?
Writing a letter to the Congressional Appropriations committees for colleague organizations to sign, regarding a Supplemental Appropriations bill.

What drives you to do this work? What makes you want to get out of bed every morning?
Feeling as though I'm standing up for what I beleive in. Knowing that what I'm doing does make a difference, no matter how small.

How often do you "dress up" for work? Describe the culture of your organization.
My office is fairly casual. I wear a suit if I have a meeting with a member of Congress, otherwise I wear a skirt and blouse. If I have no meetings that day, I can even wear jeans, etc.

In a typical month, about what percentage of your time is spent on the following activities?
Talking on the phone 5%
Dealing with email 40%
Meetings with individuals 5%
Meetings with groups/committees 25%
Traveling 5%
Writing 15%
Reading 15%
Researching 10%

(Note: respondents could allow their answers to add up to be more than 100%)

What do you do when you are feeling burned out at work?
If I'm at work and frustrated, I take a long walk around the neighborhood. I also make sure to stay physically active (I play in a couple of soccer leagues). It's also good to have at least one coworker who understands your frustrations and who you can vent to.
