What was your first job after college and how did you get it? |
This is my first job out of college. I found the description in my college's career development center, and applied. I began as an intern and was promoted to this position.
How did you get your current job? |
See above
What experiences and/or course work in college best prepared you for this job or influenced your decision to do this work? |
Learning how to read critically, ask insightful questions, and WRITE WELL! Those skills, which were learned through all my college classes, are what are most helpful. Having some background political science knowledge was useful, but
I could have easily done the same work without it.
Any regrets? What experiences and/or course work might have better prepared you for this work? |
Not many regrets. It's good to take a big variety of courses in college. Like I said above, it's the skills you're learning (writing, researching, thinking critically) that you need later on. So take courses with subject matter that
sounds interesting.

Have you attended graduate school or are you considering graduate school? What degree do you have/would you want and why? Are there any limitations to advancement in your field if you do not have a certain graduate degree? |
I do plan to attend graduate school. I'm trying to decide between a public policy/international relations type degree, and going to law school. Although I wouldn't want to practice law, the degree does open a lot of doors with major
human rights and policy organizations.
