What motivates you to be a union organizer? Why do you want to change the world?

In what kinds of jobs can recent college graduates have the most impact in your field?
They can go to work in a regular job and organize in the workplace. Or they can pursue union organizing apprenticeships through the AFL-CIO or SEIU (see websites above).

What are the major trends and/or key issues in your field?
The growing imbalance in society between the privileged few and the rest of us -- our economic situation, our access to health, our civil rights, etc.

What forms of support and/or advice have you found most valuable (mentoring, trainings, professional development, attending conferences, etc.)?
Working on organizing campaigns with colleagues; mentorships; and close, supportive supervision

What is a common or tough interview question a candidate in your field should be prepared to answer?
Why do you want to do this work?

What other advice would you give people who want to do this work?
Don't do this because you're "sorry" for people less fortunate than you. Do it if you want to build power and a voice for working people.
