Career Path
What was your first job after college and how did you get it?
My first job was after grad school as business manager for a children's museum. I called to ask the address as I was sending out blanket resumes, and wound up getting hired over the phone.

How did you get your current job?
Recruited by current boss who was assembling new management team.

What experiences and/or course work in college best prepared you for this job or influenced your decision to do this work?
The ability to think independently yet work in groups, write well, hadle mutliple tasks, appreciate diversity. My writing skills have served me well — public relations is within my department and I am always the person who handles the difficult, large center-wide writing needs.

Any regrets? What experiences and/or course work might have better prepared you for this work?
Although I attended graduste school, nothing prepares you for the real working world. I sometimes wish that I had chosen a career with more stable financial rewards.

Have you attended graduate school or are you considering graduate school? What degree do you have/would you want and why? Are there any limitations to advancement in your field if you do not have a certain graduate degree?
See above. I have a MA in History and a cerificate in Nonprofit Administration. I take continuing ed and professional courses and would someday like to become a certified fundraising executive and get an MA in Public Health because I like the field of health care. A graduate degree adds a level of experience beyond a BA that is beneficial to anyone.
