What books, magazines, periodicals, websites or other materials should people read to learn more about this field?
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is the organization most fundraisers belong to. Chronicle of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Times are good publications.

What questions would you ask of someone who wants to do this work?
Do you like people and can you work well with many different types? Are you prepared for a challenging career doing many different things without the equivalent financial reimbursement? What are your passions in life?

In what kinds of jobs can recent college graduates have the most impact in your field?
Special events, alumni relations and public relations

What are the major trends and/or key issues in your field?
Increasing government regulations, professionalization of the field, planned giving and donor relations

What forms of support and/or advice have you found most valuable (mentoring, trainings, professional development, attending conferences, etc.)?
Mentoring, conferences, informal networking

What is a common or tough interview question a candidate in your field should be prepared to answer?
See What questions would you ask of someone who wants to do this work? — be prepared to work hard and not make a lot of money.
What other advice would you give people who want to do this work?
Folllow your passion — fundraising is a great job. It allows you the opportunity to let donors feel good about themselves and support their own passions.
