The Big Picture
In what ways have your values changed since you graduated from college?
I think my values are much the same, although in college I thought about the poor in an abstract way. Now when I think of the poor I have many concrete experiences to tap. I think Cornell trained me to think that I could do anything I wanted to do. That is valuable. But I qualify that by saying it is easy to feel that you are entitled to more than others, without recognizing your blessings and good fortune to have been given so many opportunities to succeed.

How do the values you presently hold relate to your work?
I think my present values give me courage and strength when I am challenged both intellectually and spiritually.
